Our book series follows the adventures of a young Black girl named Dahlia and her friends as they embark on new journeys and learn valuable lessons together. Our music was composed to reflect the sounds of the diaspora, giving both grown-ups and kids captivating tunes to groove to.

Our Story

Dahlia & Friends was born from the creative minds of Dahcia and Jacques Bastien, the duo behind Nappy & SHADE. Inspired by their daughter, Dahlia, the books aim to provide young readers with engaging stories that not only entertain but also help build character, boost confidence, and expand vocabulary.

Dahlia & Friends isn’t just a series of children’s books; it’s a celebration of diversity in both abilities and cultural backgrounds through various mediums, including music, podcast content, and visuals.

To further our mission, we’ve joined forces with the talented Steve Bastien, a fellow parent, and passionate music creator to elevate our storytelling to a new level. With three children of his own, Steve understands the power of creating music that resonates with young minds and fuels their imaginations, while keeping parents entertained as well. Together, the Dahlia & Friends team has launched a captivating collection of children’s songs available on all streaming platforms.
